The single-player music quiz is Guess the Artist for one: a song preview plays, four artists appear, and you tap the right one as fast as you can. The quicker the correct answer, the more points you get. When the last song ends, your average points per song places you on a public ladder next to everyone who played the same song pool and length.
HOW THE SOLO QUIZ WORKS
- Pick a song pool: Gold, Silver or Bronze.
- Pick a length: 10, 20 or 30 songs.
- Type a nickname. It is shown on the ladder; there is no account or password.
- Listen to each 30-second preview and tap one of four artists.
- After the last song you see your total, your average per song and your place on the ladder.
GOLD, SILVER AND BRONZE SONG POOLS
- Gold: the most popular hits of the last 80 years. The best pool for a first game.
- Silver: well-known hits that are a notch less popular today.
- Bronze: songs that were huge in their day but are rarely heard now. The hardest pool.
SCORING: UP TO 99 POINTS PER SONG
A wrong answer scores 0. A correct answer scores 100 minus one point for every 0.3 seconds you took, rounded down, with a maximum of 99. Each song gives you 30 seconds.
- Correct after 3 seconds: 90 points.
- Correct after 10 seconds: 66 points.
- Correct after 15 seconds: 50 points.
- Correct after 29 seconds: 3 points.
THE PUBLIC SOLO LADDER
- There are nine ladders, one for each pool and length: Gold 10, Gold 20, Gold 30, and the same for Silver and Bronze.
- Games are ranked by average points per song, to two decimal places. Equal averages share a place.
- Every finished game gets its own entry, so you can play again and post a better score.
- The ladder page shows the top 100 of each ladder and lets you find a nickname.
SOLO OR WITH FRIENDS
The solo quiz is the quickest way to practise. When friends are around, start a Guess the Artist room instead: up to 20 players join from their own phones with a 4-digit code and answer the same song at the same time.
